Mexican Capirotada or Bread Pudding dessert recipe, free dessert recipes There are many variations to the capirotada or Mexican bread pudding but they nearly always contain cheese and fruits. Serve this dessert with any fruits of the season.

Capirotada or Bread Pudding - Easy Mexican Recipe For Mexican Dessert

  • 1 1/4 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack Cheese
  • 1/3 cup silvered almonds
  • 6 pieces of bread (toasted and broken into pieces)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cups raisins
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup water


How to Make Capirotada or Bread Pudding:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees
  • Grease a 1 1/2 quart round casserole dish
  • Using a saucepan, mix brown sugar and cinnamon
  • Heat to boiling, stir occasionallly
  • Boil uncovered for 3 mins, stiring
  • Add in cheese, raisins and almonds
  • Remove and set aside
  • Spread 1/3 bread pieces in the casserole dish
  • Sprinkle 1/3 of cheese mixture over
  • Repeat with bread pices and mixture at least twice
  • Pour sugar syrup over layers
  • Bake for 20 to 25 mins
  • Test for doneness when knife is inserted in center and comes away clean
